Liechtenstein is located between Switzerland and Austria and is one of the smallest countries in Europe. Liechtenstein is a mountainous region making it an ideal winter sport destination. The official language of the country is German. The general climate of Liechtenstein is mild with winter temperatures going below -15°C whereas summers can go up to 28°C.

Cities in Liechtenstein

The capital of Liechtenstein is Vaduz and is also one of the biggest cities in the country. As a political centre, Vaduz is the location of the national parliament and the Vaduz Castle. Schaan is the biggest municipality of Liechtenstein by population, and a major economic hub in the country. Close on the heels of these two are Triesen and Balzers

Transportation in Liechtenstein

A railway connects Austria and Switzerland through Liechtenstein. There are four railway stations in Liechtenstein, namely Schaan-Vaduz, Forst Hilti, Nendeln and Schaanwald. Liechtenstein Bus is a subsidiary of the Swiss Postbus system, but separately run, and connects to the Swiss bus network at Buchs and at Sargans. Buses also run to the Austrian town of Feldkirch.

Culture in Liechtenstein

Liechtenstein’s culture is highly influenced by its neighbouring European countries for example the language, art, etc. The largest museum is the Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein, an international museum of modern and contemporary art with an important international art collection. The most famous historical sites are Vaduz Castle, Gutenberg Castle, the Red House and the ruins of Schellenberg.
